Good to be back home…
While I was traveling, the Long Arm Quilter Extraordinaire (please visit her website to more beautiful quilts) worked her magic on the New York Beauty Quilt wall hanging.
This quilt is extra special to me as it includes fabric from my grandmother’s stash – some of which were used to make dresses for my mother and her sisters.
The New York Beauty pattern is wonderful in its precision – but simple – as it is paper pieced. Because the pieces range from 1/2″ triangles to 12″ arches, it is perfect for using stash fabrics.
I will be working on the binding and the hanging rod pocket his week, but could not wait to upload these pictures.
You did a beautiful job of combing the colors and the quiliting is gergous!
awesome pieceing/color co-ordinating, beautiful quilting, truely an heirloom quality piece
Thanks for the wonderful comments. This quilt has extra special meaning as it includes memories of my grandmother, my mother and my aunts – all of whom are very impressive women!
WOW. So impressed. I am a very new beginning quilter and would love to be able to do something like this some day. I can also relate to the destashification theme. I have little bits of things I can’t throw away and I have a lovely collection of cute fabrics that I MUST do something with before I buy more…. arg. I am hoping to make some cute little girl aprons. Wish me luck.
